KBT Vocational College is taking part in developing free educational material for peer support workers. Together with partners from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, and Lithuania, we are working to strengthen the education/training and competence of peer support workers across borders.
What are we working on right now?
This spring, we are actively developing new, practical educational material for peer support workers and those who train them. Each partner in the project is creating their own teaching material, which will later be freely available to anyone interested.
At KBT Vocational College, we are adapting a training program on how peer support workers can use their personal experiences in their role. This material will be available in both Norwegian and English to reach a broader audience.
Sharing knowledge across borders
This project brings together countries with different levels of experience in training and educating peer support workers. Some, like Sweden and Denmark, have extensive experience with peer support training, while KBT Vocational College has expertise in formal education. By sharing knowledge and experiences, we aim to create a common understanding and a stronger professional foundation for peer support workers across the Nordic and Baltic regions.
All educational material will be uploaded to a shared website, with English as the common language to ensure broad accessibility and easier translations.
What’s next?
In addition to the educational material, articles will be published this spring from each partner country. These articles will provide insight into the status of peer support worker training and education in each country, offering a clearer picture of the current landscape and future opportunities.
The goal of the project
Our goal is to build and develop a strong network for those working with the education and training of peer support workers in the Nordic and Baltic countries. Together, we are creating better learning opportunities and enhancing competence of peer support workers.
Stay tuned – free educational material will be available later this year!
More information on where and when you can access the material will be shared later.
